Happy Easter!

Candy Hunt at Oakbrook Park:
At the park next to the Elementary School they put on an Easter hunt the Saturday before Easter Day. It's usually at 11am and put on by volunteers. The volunteers throw out candy, chips, fruit snacks, granola bars, and such for the kids to "hunt". Since Jake worked the night before he slept while I took the kids to it. We went early so they could play at the park (and so we would be out of the house so that daddy could sleep).

Nana & Poppop Hayes came to participate and watch the kids enjoy the hunt of candy. They brought yummy treats from a bakery in Benicia. So before the hunt began we had eggs shaped cakes or apple strudel. It was good!

Jackson & Jillian then got ready to hunt.

Just before it starts some volunteers from the Solano County Sheriff department arrive. Horses, ponies, hummer, jeeps, and other Police vehicles. Once they arrive they blow a horn that sounds the start of the hunt. Jackson took off running and was rewarded with a BIG loot of chips and candy. Jillian took off pretty fast as well. She liked picking up the candy and putting it in her basket.

After the hunt the kids got to pet a horse and a pony that help with search and rescue here in our county. Jackson also got to sit in the driver seat of the hummer. The volunteers bring badges, candy, stickers, and even trading cards for the kids. I think it's a great opportunity for the community to see the people and volunteers that help protect and serve.
